Boots Opticians on Skipton High Street will celebrate their 20th anniversary this weekend. The store itself opened 20 years ago but only became a franchise in February 2017. To mark the occasion, they have undergone an extensive refit and their official reopening day will take place on Saturday 30th June.

With so many shops coming and going in our town, we wanted to find out more about this long-standing local business. A qualified Optometrist since 1999, Dan is the Franchisee for the Skipton, Keighley and Pontefract stores.

Dan, how much do you think Skipton High Street has changed over the years?

Skipton seems to go from strength to strength. The high street is vibrant with a thriving market and it’s really exciting to be part of a successful high street especially when the world of retail is undergoing such changes.

How do you think you differ from other local opticians?

Hopefully as a Boots franchise we can offer all of the benefits of a large company – great deals and top quality products but because we are locally owned we give directly back to the local community through employment, supporting Keighley BID etc. As we are a small business we aim to deliver that level of personal service that you would normally get at an independent opticians.

We cater for all budgets and all of our glasses come with scratch resistant and reflection free lenses as standard. All additional pairs are half price and all over 60s get 25% off of their first pair. Our offer is the most competitive on the high street!

Congratulations on your 20th Anniversary! How will you be celebrating?

We have just undergone the largest store refit since we opened 20 years ago creating a bright welcoming space becoming the Boots store with the largest selection of frames in the Leeds/Bradford area (outside of Leeds centre). We are having an official opening day on Saturday 30th June with special offers in store.
