Popular Skipton pub, The Black Horse, is supporting local charity SELFA by hosting two fundraising events in recognition of the charity’s 10th anniversary.
SELFA is a Skipton-based charity that runs after-school clubs, holiday clubs and residential trips for vulnerable, disadvantaged and disabled children.
Throughout the year, their experienced volunteers host various fun-packed workshops and activity sessions for children referred to the non-profit organisation by a support group or a professional such as a GP, Teacher or Social Worker. Siblings of the referred children are also able to attend and participate in the carefully organised activities, designed to increase confidence and boost self-esteem.
The Black Horse will raise funds for the children’s charity by hosting two fundraising events on May 9th 2017. From 2pm until 5pm, there will be a children’s party with a bouncy castle and soft play (provided by event sponsor – Yorkshire Dales Inflatables), entertainers, face painters, soft play and various fun-filled games and craft activities. The entry price is just £5 per child and each will receive a drink and a bag of sweets. From 7pm, the function room will host an evening of fancy dress and musical entertainment with a 70s/80s tribute act, karaoke and a disco.
Event organiser and Deputy Manager of The Black Horse – Lou Whiteside, will also be holding a raffle and tombola on the day, to raise further funds for SELFA.
