Being at home with a young child certainly has its ups and downs! One day you are more than happy being snuggled on the sofa between nappy changes and singing ‘Mummy Finger’ for the 5,000th time. The next, you are pulling your hair out because the closest you have come to an adult conversation in weeks, was when you were mouthing obscenities at Mr Tumble through the TV.
Thankfully, there are plenty of regular groups and activities on offer in Skipton for babies and toddlers, which are not only stimulating and educational for them, but a great way for Mum (or Dad) to break out of the house and enjoy some adult company.
Here, are just a few of the baby and toddler groups in Skipton that will be running after the Easter break.
Our Top Baby and Toddler Groups in Skipton
Do you have a little one that loves to kick a ball about? Kanga Sports have teamed up with Grassington Juniors Football Club to offer a weekly ‘Soccer Tots’ session for children aged 2-5. This football-themed toddler group takes place in the Emysteds Grammar school sports hall between 9 am and 11 am on a Saturday morning and costs just £3 per session. These sessions develop key skills in Soccer and help with agility, balance and coordination. To book a place or request more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Little Monkeys takes place every Thursday morning between 9:30 am and 11:00 am at St Andrew’s Church Hall. It’s a very popular group for children aged 0 to 5 years, plus their parents, grandparents or carers. Entry is just £2.50 per family and includes drinks and snacks for the adults and children. Meet other parents and enjoy a natter whilst the little ones play around with the toys or get involved with some of their regular craft activities. They also run a great group for expectant mums and younger babies (0-12 months) that takes place Friday 10:00 – 11:30 at the Friends Meeting House. Bumps and Babies costs just £1.50. Both groups are run by local parent volunteers.
Weeny Boppers is new to Skipton and will be taking place on between 1 pm and 2 pm at Skipton Children’s Centre. The Monday and Tuesdays sessions are for babies ages 0-12 months and the Friday session is designed for children under 5. This is a music group with singing, dancing and noisy instruments on offer so it promises to be great fun for both the child and the parent. Each session costs £1 per family.
Another new addition to the Skipton Children’s Centre schedule is ‘Footprint Art’. This will run from 11:00 to 11:45 on Friday morning, costing £2.00 per family. It’s a drop-in session with plenty of baby play and you’ll be able to create your own hand or footprint artwork to take home with you. It should be great fun for baby and a chance to make something special for the memory box.
Thornton Hall Country Park hosts regular toddler sessions during term time. They’ve got Mini Beasts on Mondays, Messy Play on Tuesdays, Mini Farmers on Wednesdays and Pony Club on Thursdays with free pony rides. On Friday mornings at 11 am, they have an excellent music & dance session called ‘Hartbeeps’. If you can’t make their usual sessions, there is still plenty to see and do during a normal park visit, plus, if you’re a Love Local cardholder you can get 25% off entry cost.
If you run a baby or toddler session locally or know of any we have missed, please tell us about it in the comments!
