A casting company called Piece of Cake Casting are looking to recruit Northerners who are “miserable and downtrodden” for a new film directed by Oscar-nominated Mancunian, Mike Leigh for his new depiction of the 1819 Peterloo Massacre, which is perhaps one of the most infamous days in Manchester History. Known for the hard hitting 1996 award winning film “Secrets & Lies,” Leigh will be focusing his efforts on his home town to depict the day in which a government charge was led against 60,000 peaceful protesters.
Known for movies including the hard hitting 1996 award-winning “Secrets & Lies,” Leigh will be focusing his poignant style of directing on his home town, depicting the day in which a government charge was led against 60,000 peaceful protesters, killing 15 and injuring over 600.
The production is calling for “authentic Northern faces” who will star in a “gritty English feature film.” If your style is “tired, over-worked, had a hard life and, quite frankly, a bit hard done by” then you’re exactly the type of person they need.”
Casting is taking place in Kent, Lancashire, Essex and Lincoln, although if you’re interested in taking part, just send a selfie of yourself to the casting agent!
