If you are getting married this summer, you are probably drowning in a sea of wedding magazines and tirelessly trailing the internet for local reviews and recommendations. Wedding planning is not only expensive, but it can also be extremely stressful when trying to organise your perfect day, whilst catering for the wants of family members and travelling guests.
Throughout March, we will be publishing a number of articles designed to help you make some of those all-important decisions for your big day. Today, we are kicking off our Weddings Series with our top three venue recommendations.
Best for Blowing the Budget – Broughton Hall, Broughton
The historical Broughton Hall Estate can cater for most wedding budgets as they offer a choice of three stunning venues.
For this article, I have chosen to focus on their exclusive house party wedding venue, which includes accommodation for up to 30 guests and dining for 60. There is also a marquee option for those with larger parties.
Located in the heart of the estate, Broughton Hall is surrounded by spectacular Yorkshire countryside and 17th Century formal gardens. Such scenery provides the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos. Dating back to 1597, the house features traditional English interiors with lavish furnishings and magnificent portraits in gilded frames.
For the duration of your stay, this beautiful country house can be all yours. Accommodate your guests in one of the 15 lavish bedrooms and entertain them in the delightfully atmospheric dining hall. This venue truly provides a most memorable experience not just for the Bride and Groom, but also for all who attend.
Best for Brides on a Budget – Herriots for Leisure, Skipton
Located opposite Skipton Rail Station, Herriots is a family-run business with over 25 years experience in hospitality. Their dedicated events team will guide you through the available options and support you in every step of the planning process. They will also be present on the big day to ensure that everything runs smoothly – a service that many larger hotels fail to provide. Herriots is also just a few yards away from Aireville Park; an attractive recreational area that provides pleasant scenery for photographs.
This year, they are offering a fantastic package for those with a limited budget. Priced at just £2017, their bargain of a package includes drinks on arrival, a 3-course Wedding Breakfast and a hot supper. The package is limited to up to 50 people (including the Bride and Groom) but there is an option to pay for additional guests. This is a very popular choice and this particular package is only available on selected dates, with very few Saturdays left. I would advice making an enquiry as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Best for Choice – Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton
Rendezvous Hotel provides a bespoke wedding planning service and tailors each package to your budget and your specific requirements. Whether you want a small, intimate wedding with a limited number of guests or a grand affair in their impressive ballroom, they put 100% into ensuring that your day is memorable and hiccup-free.
They have a number of rooms within their hotel that are registered for civil partnerships, but the favourite by far is the conservatory which provides scenic views of the picturesque Leeds-Liverpool Canal – a popular location for outside photos.
Rendezvous offers a generous selection of delicious menu options for both the Wedding Breakfast and the Evening Reception. The hotel was my chosen reception venue back in 2013 and I can assure you that the Roast Beef served to our guests went down a treat.
All packages include complimentary Bridal suite, red carpet, table linen, menus, place cards, cake stand, engraved cake knife and use of in-house leisure facilities.
Skipton is home to some truly lovely Wedding venues. Wherever you choose to celebrate your special day, we at The Skipton Press hope it is everything you wish for and marks the beginning of a lifetime of happiness.
