Business owners were quick to support the opening of the 2018 Skipton Business Awards by attending this year’s launch on November 8th.
Headline sponsor Skipton Building Society helped to get local entrepreneurs in the mood for next Spring’s awards event by hosting the convivial launch evening with drinks and canapes at their Head Office, The Bailey, Skipton.
Attendees learned that sponsorship of the 12 awards categories had been oversubscribed as last year’s sponsors were joined by more businesses keen to support the awards which champion the local business community.
Wendy Lawson, Coordinator of the awards explained, “We’ve been delighted to receive so much positivity about last year’s award process and the ceremony held at The Rendezvous Hotel. It’s heartening that there is such a demand from our business community wanting to be involved in backing this rewarding initiative.”
The category sponsors were announced as follows: Best New Business – High Corn Mill; Best Business Supplier/Wholesaler – Bluefin Insurance Services; Best Accommodation – The Rendezvous Hotel; Best Apprentice/Trainee – Spear Travels; Best Customer Service – Bizzie Lizzie’s; Best Food & Drink Award – Barclays Bank Plc; Best Fitness, Health & Beauty – Aspire Magazine; Best Leisure & Tourism – The Mill Shop; Best Manufacturer/Engineering –Windle & Bowker; Best Market Stall – Skipton Market; Best Professional/Financial Services – Shepherd Partnership ; Best Retailer – Tyro Training and Winners’ Champagne – The Pentelow Practice. Foundation sponsors, Skipton BID, will also be presenting their sponsored award for ‘Best Bar None’ on the presentation evening.
The working party is looking at offering additional opportunities for business owners who did not a secure category sponsorship to be able to be involved in other ways to enhance the gala event.
Though founded by the Chamber of Trade & Commerce, entry to the awards is not limited to Chamber members, and is open to any business with a BD23 postcode. Entry is free and the application process has been kept simple; requiring only a 300 word summary to enable time-pressured business owners to take part by submitting their entry before the deadline of Monday 15 January 2018, 12 noon. The award ceremony dinner will take place on Thursday 22 March at The Rendezvous Hotel, celebrating the success of the winners and showcasing the nominees and runners-up.
