As regular readers will know, The Skipton Press has been following the rise of local singer Niamh Mirfield. At just thirteen years old, Niamh is already a hugely accomplished singer-songwriter. So accomplished, in fact, that she was nominated in the Best Song category in the Best of British Unsigned Music Awards (see here for more details).
And now Niamh is celebrating, because last week it was announced that Niamh’s song, Can’t Stand This Anymore, took the runner-up prize in the awards.
‘Being runner-up at only 13 years old is amazing,’ said Niamh. And we couldn’t agree more. For someone so young to do so well in such a competition is a great achievement – we’re proud of you, Niamh!
‘You haven’t seen the last of me yet,’ said Niamh. ‘I’ll be backstage at Jools Holland and I’m working on more songs in process at Zene records.’
Well, we can’t wait to hear what you come up with next, Niamh! We’re sure this is just the start of a glittering career for our Skipton songstress, and we hope to document her rise every step of the way!
