Local Children’s charity SELFA have been awarded a £40000 grant from the Comic Relief fund.
Skipton-based children’s charity SELFA has been selected by the Comic Relief Core Strength Programme to receive a grant of £40,000 over the next 24 months. Out of 1500 applications received by Comic Relief, only 105 were selected to receive this grant. SELFA is the only rural project in Yorkshire and the only project in North Yorkshire to receive this funding.
SELFA have been providing tailored after-school and holiday clubs to local disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children for almost 10 years. The Comic Relief grant will help to cover their core costs.
Emma Pears, charity co-ordinator, said: “We are very excited to be receiving this grant from Comic relief. This grant will help us move to the next level and this is such great news in a time that many charities are cutting costs. This is a very exciting time for SELFA and we have great ambitions for the future!”
Comic Relief funds over 1000 projects and charities in the UK alone. Safety, health, education, and empowerment are the core principles of Comic Relief and they fund a variety of projects and charities both locally and internationally in order to promote these core principles.
