North Yorkshire Police has issued an appeal for information regarding a fatal collision between a motorbike and a 4×4 which occurred at the Skipton Castle junction on the A65 at roughly 7.24pm on Friday 13th October.
A blue Suzuki motorbike was heading towards Harrogate from Skipton when a blue Jeep Cherokee which was turning right onto the the A65 collided with the vehicle.
The 20-year-old man who was riding the motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene and an 18-year-old female passenger suffered serious leg injuries and was lifted to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said: “The occupants of the Jeep were uninjured but were deeply shocked by the incident.”
Diversions were put in place while the emergency services recovered the vehicles and the road re-opened at 12.40 on Saturday.
Police said: “Witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing either the blue Jeep Cherokee or the blue Suzuki motorcycle with a pillion passenger prior to the incident, are urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team.
