News from Craven Volunteer Centre
Craven Volunteer Centre has launched a new online volunteer recruitment system, “Volunteer Connect”, which can be accessed directly through their website. Prospective volunteers can now search for over 400 volunteering opportunities across the Craven district, ranging from outdoor conservation work, Trustee roles, work with older people or those with disabilities – and many, many more. It’s easy to use and contact can be made directly with any group that sparks an interest through the online system. Launched in June this year during Volunteers’ Week, the new site is proving very popular and has attracted a large number of applications to local organisations.
The Volunteer Centre also now offers extra support to people who face barriers to volunteering. This could be because of a physical or learning disability, mental health issues, long-term unemployment, recovery from a drug and alcohol addiction, or anything that causes a lack of confidence. The Centre’s Project Worker can help with identifying the right role, making telephone calls, completing application forms, accompanying to interviews and even supporting for the first few sessions.
For more information on either of the above, Craven Volunteer Centre is open Mon – Thurs until 1 pm at 26 Otley Street, Skipton. Appointments can be made by calling 01756 701648 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
