The first meet up of a brand new Photography Walk group will take place on Sunday, 20th August from 1pm and will see photographers walk through and capture images of the idyllic Skipton Castle Woods.

With an abundance of talented photographers living in and around Skipton, it promises to be a fantastic, relaxed and social event. What’s more, the event is free and is open to budding photographers of all experience levels. It represents a brilliant opportunity for people who would like to learn more about the craft of photography in a friendly and unjudgemental environment.

The Photography Walk is being arranged by local photographer and film maker Will Gascoigne, who has previously arranged Photographers/Film makers meet ups in the area. The event is also being supported by The Skipton Press, who hopes to bring together many of the creative people who have previously contributed to The Press.

Editor of The Skipton Press, Declan Connolly said: “We’ve worked with several photographers since we started publishing just under a year ago. Each of them has a very different style; we can’t wait to see how they each capture the same location at exactly the same time, but through their own unique perspective.”

Woodland Trust, who manage and care for Skipton Castle Woods, are giving their support to the event organisers by promoting the walk on their website locally & nationally. Hazel Birdsall Singer- Visitor Experience Officer at Skipton Castle Woods said ‘ We know woodlands are places of great inspiration to both amateur and professional photographers alike. Woods and trees make wonderful subjects; from bark textures and tree canopies to birds and other wildlife, there are so many opportunities to capture the mystery and magic of woods.’

Will Gascoigne said “The Photographers Walk is open to whoever is interested, we will meet up somewhere different each time and have a wander around the area and see what photos we can create! It’s a chance to meet new people and learn from each other.

I thought Skipton Castle Woods would be a good place to start. Everyone is welcome, no matter how basic your camera or experience!”
