Artisan flower grower and florist Susan Dobson of the Yorkshire Dales Flower Company will be sharing some expert tips and offering hands-on help in creating stunning arrangements from home grown blooms in an open workshop on September 9th.
With many natural reminders that autumn is just round the corner, Susan will be celebrating the late blooms and plants that are available during harvest time. With dahlias a particular favourite of hers, they will be among the magnificent garden wonders to feature in the workshop.
Having developed a series of floristry workshops to inspire creativity and help people prepare their own arrangements, Susan explains, “We often think of the flowers that are abundant during our sunshine months, and yet forget how beautiful floral arrangements can be at other times of the year. I love to play with unusual plants and materials as we enter autumn, including berries, beautiful bark and stems, elegant grasses, mosses and seed heads, too. It occurred to me that we should host a workshop specifically looking at autumnal arrangements to showcase what is possible from our native gardens and countryside, making the most of the colours and scents of autumn.”
The ‘Autumn Flowers Workshop’ will take place at St Marys Church Hall, Bradley between 10.00am and 12.30pm on the 9th of September with a limited number of tickets available at £45.00 per person which includes flowers (including the arrangements to take home), refreshments and homemade cake.
