Julian Smith has been busy recently, as well as being named MP for Skipton and Ripon at last week’s election, he has also been named Deputy Chief Whip by Theresa May.
In continuation to our Candidates reactions, Julian sent in this message, which we now share with you.
“I am delighted to have been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon with an increased share of the vote and to have been appointed by the Prime Minister as Government Deputy Chief Whip. It has been a huge honour and privilege to represent this wonderful constituency for the past seven years and, after a hard-fought General Election, I am looking forward to doing so again. The core of my work in Parliament is to be a strong voice for Skipton and Ripon during the Brexit negotiations and to ensure we get the best possible deal for the country and for our area.
This is a crucial time for our country and the Conservatives are fully behind Theresa May as we form a government. With the most seats and the most votes, only the Conservative Party has the ability and legitimacy to govern in the interest of the whole country.”
